Indianapolis Motor speedway July 31, 2007SPIN AND WIN!
The Clorox team kept fighting even after the odds were completely against them. Todd Caldwell spun while in the lead and hit the outside wall. He came in and the team went to work. Booty Barker's Pit team got the car back out but it was still off pace. Booty was overheard telling Todd to save fuel....that was there only chance. "We were 2 laps short on fuel so I kept letting off way early and getting back into the gas way late. It wasn't fun at the time but it payed off." Todd said. "This is the teams win. They fixed the damage and Booty made the call."
"The car just got really loose and I just lost it." Todd said about the spin. "I feel bad that the race ended like that for Doug, but We've got to be proud of ourselves for overcomming everything...We needed it."
What started out to be a day that looked like there would be many cautions starting with the 1st lap caution brought out by Bobby LaBonte #43. There would be a 2nd Caution coming out on Lap 3 with Todd Caldwell driver of the Clorox #58 taking the lead and keeping it until lap 17when he pitted and Doug Caldwell driver of the Under Armour #66 took the lead at that time. There would be seversl more cautions to come. On lap 53 while leading the field the #17 took him out of 1st by spinning him.I caught up to Doug after the race and he had this to say " Ijust don't know why Matt Kenseth felt the need to take me out and poss cause an injury that was just alot of bullshit and thats all I have to sayabout that". I think I had the car to take the checkered flag.
