Auto Parts 500

2 IN A ROW!!! Caldwell MotorSport had an up and down day. Having a car in the top 5 through most of the race and having a couple toward the back of the pack. However it was a different car at the front at different times. Driver of the 82 Dodge Gary Caldwell drove toward the front for the first portion of the race before having problems on the track. Doug Caldwell Driver of the 66 Dodge had troubles as well. Obviously displeased with Matt Kenseth after the race he was unable for comment.
Todd Caldwell was the story of the day. having problems early in the race he came down onto the #78 causing himself to spin. Fortunately once AGAIN the COT proved to be durable and they were able to work there way up through the field passing one car at a time until battling with Tony Stewart at the end.
"This is an unbelievable team!" Todd Caldwell said after exiting his car in victory lane. "The driver screwed up and got into the wall and the team fixed it and won the race for us."

When we caught up with Gary Caldwell driver of the # 82 Zerex Dodge we got the following comments. I was really happy with my car today and I really believe we had the car to beat . I got caught up in some unlucky situations and had to fight my way up through the field a few times. I had a car that handled better the longer we went but unfortunately that didn't happen to often . At the end of the race I had worked myself back up to 12th place but I got overeager to get into the top 10 and I overdrove my car into turn 2 on the final lap and it got away from me leaving me with a 16th place finish. I thought Caldwell MotorSports did an outstanding job getting the finishes they got considering all of the on track situations they got caught up in. It's nice to see Todd leading the points and I think with a couple of races to get back focussed Doug with get back in the top 35 and start climbing the points standings. I have done some testing at LasVegas and think it will be an exciting race. The things I learned testing is that your front right goes away with about 10-12 laps to go on a fuel run and also to pass the key will be patience . I think the only safe places to pass are entering the turn if you are already under them or exiting the turn if you have the momentum.

Well we caught up to Doug Caldwell Driver of the #66 Logitech Dodge and he was very dissapointed with todays race saying he has no idea what Matt Kenseth was thinking when he drove straight into him and ruining his day, and his chances for a decent finish. Doug says he will just have to step it up a little and move up in the points standings. He really is proud of Teammate and brother Todd. And says Gary did well for for Caldwell Motorsports also.
